American Raptor Tommy Madaras Joins the Jackals
The Dallas Jackals are happy to announce Tommy Madaras has signed with Dallas! The prop looks forward to expanding his career with the Jackals!
From Itasca, IL, Madaras attended Saint Viator High School and was a three-sport athlete playing football, water polo, and swimming. In football, he was a defensive and offensive tackle.
After high school, Madaras attended Marquette University where he was introduced to rugby. Madaras continued his football career playing in the Rivals Professional Football League and in the Arena Football League.
Wanting to return to rugby, Madaras joined the then Colorado XO’s, a program built to convert elite American athletes from sports such as football, basketball, and wrestling to rugby players, now called the American Raptors. Recently, Madaras joined the Raptors on a two week trip to Uruguay to compete internationally.
In his free time, Madaras enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and working out. He and his long-time girlfriend Tricia recently got a Goldendoodle puppy named Ozzie.
Madaras said, “I’m really humbled to have this opportunity to join the Jackals and be part of the MLR. My sports career has taken me all over the country from football leagues to rugby leagues, so I’m happy that I can continue developing as a rugby player.”
When asked about Dallas, Madaras said, “In Dallas, I’m looking forward to exploring the food scene. I love checking out new restaurants, so we will be hitting up every BBQ joint possible. Having recently been playing in Colorado, I’m also excited for some warmer weather.”
Dallas Jackals GM Elaine Vassie said, “Having first spoke to Tommy almost 18 months ago while he was still actively training for football, it’s been fantastic to follow his transition to rugby and see the progress he’s made. Mobile and dynamic, gaining experience at tighthead over the last season with the Raptors will have paid dividends and we’re looking forward to supporting him in his next steps!
