Chicago Native Timmy Ohlwein Signs as Development Player
Jackals Development Players are key to building rugby domestically. Following the same training schedule as Jackals players and placement with local clubs to gain game experience, the Developmental Players will have the opportunity to improve to MLR level of play as part of our high performance pathway.
Dallas Jackals are pleased to announce Timmy Ohlwein has been signed for the 2022 Inaugural Season as a Development Player! Former Florida State and Arkansas State alum, Timmy looks to further develop his skills with the Jackals.
From Lindenhurst, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago, Timmy, 23, attended Lake Community High School where he was a three sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. His rugby origins date back to 2016 when he attended Florida State University and joined the club team.
Timmy went on to win Rookie of the Year at Florida State his freshman year. The following year, he was selected for the Southern Independent Selects and named MVP of the squad. Timmy spent the summer months playing at the Alaska Mountain Rugby grounds where he met Jake Mizell, Arkansas State University Head Coach. Subsequently, Timmy soon transferred to Arkansas State to continue his education and playing career as a Red Wolf.
With the next level in his grasp, Timmy still has his standards set high, “It means everything to have this opportunity to be part of the Jackals. When I transferred to Arkansas State University, the goal was to make it to the next level after college. This is the next step to keep growing as a player and hopefully someday represent the National team.”
He continued, “I am excited to join the Jackals in their first season and be part of something new. It is a great opportunity to grow as a player with the coaches and players from different backgrounds.” When asked about Dallas, Timmy stated, “I am looking forward to living somewhere different. I have never been to Dallas, but have only heard good things about it and look forward to experiencing it myself.”
Welcome to the Pack Timmy!
