Dallas Jackals Sign Chad Gough
During his senior year at Snow Canyon High School, Chad played football in the Fall and wrestled in the Winter. During the Spring of his senior year, he wanted to participate in a sport, but wasn’t sure what to pick. With the help of his friends and the high school rugby Head Coach, he decided on rugby. Chad says he fell in love with the sport when he scored his first try playing No.8.
After graduating high school, he went on to play at the University of Utah. In October 2015, Chad was selected D1A West Player of the Month and PAC Player of the Month in March 2017. While at University of Utah, Chad was a three-time All-American and a 7’s All-American. He participated in two tours, one to Brisbane, Australia in 2016 and another in 2017 to Philadelphia, PA to play against Oxford. In 2017, Chad was a Scholz Finalist for the top Collegiate Rugby player in the Nation and won the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship with Rugby Utah.
After college, Chad signed with the Glendale Raptors in 2018 for the Fall exhibition season. This continued his time in Colorado for the 2019 MLR season. Chad was also the Assistant Rugby Coach at Snow Canyon High School in 2018. In 2019, Chad set the hooker record with a 100 meter try along with 65 carriers for 609 meters and made 64 tackles.
Chad was born and raised in St. George, Utah and is the youngest of six brothers and one sister. His wife Aubrey and two children, Ellie and Beauden, will accompany him to Dallas. He says, “I’m most excited to be a Jackal because it’s a new team with a bunch of new teammates. I know we are going to do big things for our new fans in Dallas!” Welcome to the pack Chad!
