JACKALS CLIPPED BY SABERCATS
A humid, hot night at SaberCats Stadium in Houston, TX saw the Dallas Jackals fall 33-21 to interstate and I-45 Feud rival Houston Sabercats on Saturday night. Sam Golla, Adriaan Booysen, and Jeronimo Gomez Vara collected the tries while Martin Elias ensured the two points on conversions.
Golla brushed off one SaberCat en route to scoring his second try in as many games at the 17th minute. Elias added the two points and the match was tied.
Houston responded with their own seven points. It was then Booysen’s turn to reply. A speedy offload along the try the line topped off with Booysen rapidly diving to the ground. Elias blasted the ball in between the posts, going 2-for-2.
The sides went to the sheds notched at 14-14.
Dallas opened the second half with a blistering rush down the edge of the pitch. Alejandro Torres sprinted through a gap in the Houston line. Then, after a handful offloads, the captain finished off the phase to push the Jackals up 21-14 just 50 seconds into the latter half.
Despite a SaberCat try in response, Dallas maintained pressure and possession for a while. It appeared the Pack found a recipe for success, including forcing a knock-on by the SaberCats on the Dallas try line. That mistake eliminated a Houston try.
The score was 21-21 during the second hydration break.
However, the SaberCats were able to post 12 unanswered points late in the half to seal the match at 33-21. The Jackals drop to 1-7 on the season.
