Jackals Sign Center Chad London
Chad is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa where as a child he played every sport he could. He credits his parents for encouraging him and his siblings to participate in youth sports.
Unknowing to many, the first sport Chad participated in competitively was BMX Racing. He began racing at four years old and continued to represent South Africa through grade school. He went on to compete in the World BMX Racing Championships in the US.
Chad started playing rugby at eight years old. It was only natural for him to play rugby having multiple family members play, including his older brother. During his schooling, Chad attended a boarding school in Johannesburg where “rugby was like a religion.” He represented the school for two years where he jumped between positions, but mainly played scrum half and fly half.
Following high school, he attended the University of Johannesburg for chiropractic studies. After two years, Chad was offered a rugby scholarship to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. While playing at Palmer, he was recognized as an All-American. After graduating with his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree, Chad moved to Colorado and signed with the Glendale Raptors. In 2014, Chad was the leading scorer in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and was named Club Player of the Year by Rugby Today. Two years later Chad joined the Denver Stampede, the first professional rugby team in Colorado, and helped them win the Championship their first season.
In 2017 Chad returned and was chosen co-captain of the Raptors, who he represented through 2020 until signing with the Jackals. Chad is excited to move to a city of sports fans like Dallas. He says, “the club has a clear vision of where they want the club to go and what kind of professional rugby they want to bring to Dallas.” Welcome to the pack Chad!
