Late Surge From Dallas Jackals Earns Bonus Point in Season’s First Loss
Captain Sam Golla inspired yet another Dallas Jackals comeback down 13-30 when he exploded through enemy lines for a deep run and a 73rd minute try. His feat was then shortly followed up by an additional try from prop Kyle Steeves, cutting the lead to seven in stoppage time.
Though the late run secures the Jackals another vital bonus point, it wasn’t enough for the victory as they fall for the first time this season to the 2023 West Conference Champions, the San Diego Legion.
The Jackals opened the scoring in this one with a try from scrum half Juan Dee Oliver off some impressively tricky running from Ronan Foley and took their lead into halftime. Shortly after the break however, they quickly let it slip into a deep deficit when the Legion scored 19 unanswered points.
It was a tough day for the Jackals at the line of touch, letting several opportunities go wanting while their opponents remained clinical at the other end. Still, the home side put on a show for the crowd with their resilience and determination to snatch the bonus point at the very last.
