Wing Campbell Johnstone Comes to Dallas
Campbell grew up in Woodbine, Maryland and with a family history of both of his parents playing in college, Campbell was destined to play rugby. He began playing at 7 years old for the West Carroll Marauders in Maryland. Campbell continued into high school playing for the Marauders High School team where he helped the team win the CRC HS Elite 7s Tournament in 2016 and 2017. Before graduating high school, Campbell was invited to play on the USA High School All-Americans team in 2017.
After graduating high school, he continued his rugby career in New Zealand playing for Ngongotaha RFC. Campbell said he “absolutely loved NZ and learned so much about rugby and the Maori culture.”
Once he returned to the US, Campbell began college at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. During his time at Mount Saint Mary’s, he was selected to play for the USA U20s team in which he played center/wing and scored 3 tries in 3 matches.
After one year at Mount Saint Mary’s, Campbell left to play for the Glendale Raptors. He says, “I have loved playing at the next level and continually improving my skills.”
Campbell is very excited to be a Jackal and can’t wait to represent Dallas on and off the pitch. He says coming together with a new group of players and becoming the best team in the MLR excites him the most. Welcome to the pack Campbell!
