Jonetani Vasurakuta

Jonetani, who goes by John, started playing rugby at 6 years old in his hometown village of Nakorovou, Fiji. During primary school, Jonetani played for Milo Kaji before entering high school. Later he joined the U16 and U17 where he competed in the Dean’s Competition.

Jonetani went on to gain a scholarship to Timaru Boys High School in New Zealand where he represented Timaru on the 1st XV side as well as the 7s side. Continuing his career, Jonetani was selected for Crusaders Knights U18 team. While in New Zealand, he also played for the South Canterbury U18 team.

Jonetani returned to Fiji and was recruited for the Fijian High Performance Unit Academy, which was named as part of the Fiji U20 extended squad. He also was selected for the Fiji Warriors side for the 2020 Pacific Challenge Cup. Recently, Jonetani played for Nadroga F.C. Senior team as the youngest player on the side.

He is excited to join the Jackals and “work with experienced Coaches that will help develop me as a rugby player.” Jonetani is ready to show his skills in the MLR competition and experience everything Dallas has to offer.
