Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to South Africa at 12 years old. He began playing rugby at Selborne College until he returned to the US 4 years later. He played with the Birmingham Buccaneers while attending Clarkston High School.
Mike attended Bowling Green University pursuing a Bachelor’s of Applied Science Degree (BASc) in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management. The team advanced to the National Collegiate Championships, finishing 3rd in 2011 and 2014. He was selected for the Mid-American All-Conference team multiple times and was named a Collegiate All-American for his senior year.
Mike traveled to Scotland and joined the Glasgow Hawks. After an injury forced him to return to the US, he played for American Rugby Premiership’s New York Old Blue’s for 3 years. In 2018, Mike joined Rugby United New York (RUNY) before being loaned to Austin Elite Rugby, now Austin Gilgronis, where he played a major part of their inaugural MLR season. Mike returned to RUNY for the 2019 season where he continued through the 2020 season.
Mike said, “I hope to help some of the young American players transition from the college game to what it means to be a professional rugby player.”
