Skyler is from Black Forest, Colorado and went to Pine Creek High School. He began playing rugby at 15 years old with the Colorado Grizzlies RFC. He helped the Grizzlies win two State Championships, was captain of the U17 Colorado Select team, and was selected for the Rugby Colorado U19 team in 2010 and 2011. Skyler went on to play at Linwood University for one season. He then signed with the Glendale Raptors DI team and continued his education at Pikes Peak Community College.
In 2013, Skyler transferred to American International College (AIC) where he played rugby through 2017 when he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and History. While team captain 2014-2016, he led the team to three East Coast Rugby Conference Championships and was selected for the East Coast Rugby Conference All-Conference team. He also was nominated for the Goff Rugby Leadership Award in 2015 and won the Robert Burke Athletic Director’s Award in 2017.
After college, Skyler moved to Christchurch, New Zealand to play for the BNZ Crusaders International Academy. While in New Zealand, he also played for the Marist Albion RFC and New Brighton RFC. Skyler returned to the US to play for the Austin Gilgronis for the 2020 MLR season. He says, “There is something beautiful about a good old fashion rivalry. Saying that, I long to bring home the Texas Cup where it belongs!”
