Aussie-American Nate Osborne Heads West to Join the Dallas Jackals Coaching Staff
ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Jackals have hired Nate Osborne, Attack and Backs Coach, for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The hall-of-fame player and coach for Metropolis RFC holds the distinction of being the first head coach in MLR history to reach 50 caps.
Originally from Queanbeyan, Australia, Osborne has had a major impact on American rugby. He was the first head coach in franchise history for the New Orleans Gold, which he led from 2017 to 2022 before becoming interim head coach at Old Glory DC. He is the first in league history to have led multiple sides as head coach.
Before MLR, Osborne coached D1 side Metropolis RFC to two Final 4s, two Elite 8s, and two Round of 16s, bringing them to five Midwest Championships. He is a member of the Metropolis RFC hall-of-fame as a player and coach.
In 2014, Osborne was called up to Attack and Backs Coach for the United States National Rugby Union team and continued with the USA XV side through the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
“Nate is a Rugby man. He is known for producing great results on and off the pitch. His background and experience are remarkable, and his natural talent for developing the best in everyone around him will be a tremendous asset to our team this season.” said Head Coach Agustin Cavalieri.
