
Ayemere Oiyemhonlan Joins the Jackals
The Dallas Jackals are excited to announce Ayemere Oiyemhonlan as signed for the 2022 Inaugural Season!
Growing up in Hercules, California, Oiyemhonlan, 25, began playing sports at Deer Valley HS with his first sport being men’s volleyball. He later started his rugby career at Idaho State before transferring to Lindenwood University – Belleville, a satellite campus of well known rugby college Lindenwood. Going into his senior year, Oiyemonlan playing summer 7s with Life West Rugby.
Expanding his rugby career, Oiyemhonlan was picked up by Old Glory DC after attending their combine. Following the Old Glory’s 2019 Exhibition season, he headed North to compete with the Old Blue RC in New York then joined Roots Rugby for various Winter 7s tournaments.
Recently, Oiyemhonlan played with Belmont Shore RFC and National Athletic Village and currently is with St. Louis Bombers. He also took part in the inaugural Premier Rugby Sevens with the Locals.
“I am most excited to play high level rugby in the Lone Star State, enjoy southern hospitality, and the endless history/culture that is Dallas, “ Oiyemhonlan said. “Also to play for an organization that, outside of performing on the field, cares about bringing rugby to the forefront in America through the grassroots.”
“It means the world to me to continue my MLR career. It feels almost like a second chance especially when considering the opportunities are scarce and there are so many willing and able athletes across the world.”
Elaine Vassie, Jackals GM, said, “Ayemere has a real maturity in his outlook and perspective that shone through in our conversations. I’m confident this along with his athletic abilities and experience will serve him well on the next steps of his journey as a Jackal.”
