Chad London Returns for the 2022 Inaugural Season
The Dallas Jackals are excited to announce Chad London has signed on for the 2022 Inaugural Season! Former Colorado Raptor, London is excited to continue his rugby career.
London is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa where as a child he played every sport he could. Unknown to many, the first sport London participated in competitively was BMX Racing. He began racing at four years old and continued to represent South Africa through grade school. He went on to compete in the World BMX Racing Championships in the US.
London started playing rugby at eight years old. It was only natural for him to play rugby having multiple family members play, including his older brother. During his schooling, London attended a boarding school in Johannesburg where “rugby was like a religion.” He represented the school for two years where he jumped between positions, but mainly played scrum half and fly half.
Following high school, he attended the University of Johannesburg for chiropractic studies. After two years, London was offered a rugby scholarship to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa where he was recognized as an All-American. After graduating with his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree, London moved to Colorado and signed with the Glendale Raptor where he was the leading scorer in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and was named Club Player of the Year by Rugby Today.
London made his USA Eagle debut earning his first cap in 2014. He went on to make six appearances with the National Team including in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship.
In 2016, London joined the Denver Stampede, the first professional rugby team in Colorado, and helped them win the Championship their first season. London returned to the Raptors in 2017 and was chosen co-captain in their inaugural MLR season, who he represented through 2020.
Since 2020, London has been a practicing chiropractor in Arlington, TX.
London says, “I’m most excited about playing a different brand of rugby, with a new team and teammates, and continuing to learn and grow and become a better rugby player.”
“Having only one or two more seasons left in me, I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Jackals and helping establish the team here in DFW is something I didn’t want to miss out on.”
Jackals GM Elaine Vassie said, “Fantastic to have Chad joining us for 2022. Initially capped as an Eagle in 2014, his experience within top flight US rugby and his passion about the journey ahead of us will be a huge asset as we start our inaugural season!”
