Dallas Jackals Dominate Anthem RC with 40-Point Victory
CHARLOTTE, NC – Dallas Jackals wing Mitch Richardson scored the team’s first try in the fifth minute of Sunday’s match against Anthem RC and it was the start of an onslaught that resulted in 10 total trys scored by 10 different players.
Richardson’s opening try was the first of four unanswered trips to the try zone by the Jackals. In the 9th minute, fullback Vaughen Isaacs broke the line with a 20-meter run up the middle followed by Juan Dee Oliver in the 14th and Nick Benn in the 22nd .
Anthem RC’s Turnbull scored his team’s first try in the 26th minute before Jackals hooker Dewald Kotze scored off of a maul to close out the first half.
Anthem RC scored a quick try to start the second half but Dallas responded almost immediately with a try from Dublin, Ireland’s own, Ronan Foley.
A penalty try was awarded after a knock by Isaacs in the 64th minute.
Co-Captain Jero Gomez Vara started the final try flurry for the Jackals off of a spectacular cross-kick by fly half Martin Elias.
Dallas’s 2024 first round pick, Marques Fuala’au, scored his first professional try after a quick start from scrum half Brock Gallagher caught the Anthem RC defenders off-guard. The scoring was capped off by a Tomas Bekerman try in
the 80th minute.
Jackals kicking magician, Martin Elias, scored 9 conversions to go along with his own try in the 77th minute. He finished the game with 21 points. After the game he said, “I’m very happy and we played a great game. We made some mistakes but we improved this week.” He added “We have to go get ready for next week against NOLA .”
The Dallas Jackals are back in action at home in Choctaw Stadium on Saturday, March 23, when they take on NOLA Gold. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST and the match will be televised by The Rugby Network. Get your tickets today!
