Former New England Free Jack Tom Brusati Comes to Dallas
The Dallas Jackals are excited to announce Tom Brusati is coming to Dallas on trade from New England Free Jacks for salary cap.
From the San Francisco Bay Area, Brusati began playing rugby in high school at 15 years old with Marin Highlanders/North Bay Rugby before joining his high school squad at Terra Linda HS.
Brusati then attended and played rugby at Saint Mary’s College of California where he aided the side to winning the 2017 National Championship. He also attended two Penn Mutual 7s tournaments and was awarded 1st team All-Conference his senior year.
After graduating from saint Mary’s, Brusati was signed by the New England Free Jacksl for the 2021 MLR Season. He was named to 11 of the 16 games.
Growing up the youngest of four boys, Brusati spent many hours at the family owned sporting goods store, T & B Sports, where he still returns to work in the off seasons.
Brusatsi said, “I am most excited about being a part of and getting to know a new group of players and giving whatever I can to the team to have the most successful season possible. I am also very proud and excited to be a part of the Inaugural Season with the Jackals.”
He continued, “It means everything to me to have another opportunity to continue my rugby career. Last season was an amazing experience and getting an opportunity from the Jackals to continue my career is something I’m very thankful for.” On the topic of moving to Dallas, Brusati said, “Being from a town on the coast of California and never really leaving the Bay Area, I’m really excited to get down to Dallas and just experience a different culture and different part of the States. Although I’ll never be caught dead in a Cowboys Jersey, I’d love to go to a game and see the stadium and see the Cowboys play.”
Jackals GM Elaine Vassie said, “Having first spoke to Tom back in 2020, I was really pleased to see him enter the league with Free Jacks and even happier that we managed to agree a trade. An intelligent player with a nicely rounded skill set, we’re excited to support his aspirations and are confident how we want to play will allow him to show the best of his game.”
