JP Aguirre Joins the Jackals
Dallas Jackals are excited to announce Juan Pablo “JP” Aguirre Romero has signed with the Jackals. The newly 28 year old, DOB April 27, joins from competing in Colorado with the American Raptors.
Aguirre originally joined the MLR with the Austin Herd in 2019, appearing in seven matches and ending the season with an impressive stat line.
His rugby career started at 12 years old with Club Champagant in his hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He soon represented his country on the U18 and U20 Argentine sides in the 2013 Junior Rugby World Cup and went on to win the Sudamerica Championship in 2014.
Aguirre continued his MLR career with Rugby New York in the shortened 2020 campaign, due to COVID-19. He signed with the Seattle Seawolves in 2021 before playing for the London Royals at the World Tens Series in Bermuda.
For schooling, he attended Instituto Champagnat followed by Lindenwood-Belleville in 2016-2017 before transferring to Lindenwood University. Named a Collegiate All-American Honorable Mention in 2018, he played for the All-Americans at the Rugbytown 7s in 2018. Continuing his Sevens time, Aguirre helped Lindenwood win the D1 Sevens National Championship and was named to the 2018 Collegiate Rugby Championship Dream Team.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree, Agurrie joined Bulldog Rugby in Colorado, winning the 2018 USA D1 Sevens Championship. He next competed with Tiger Rugby in the RugbyTown Sevens tournament followed by Old Blue 7s in the USA 7s Nationals.
