Local Dallas Harlequins Player Romain “Frenchie” Gadeaux Joins as Development Player
The Dallas Jackals are happy to announce long-time Dallas Harlequin Romain “Frenchie” Gadeaux is joining as a Development Player!
Born in Tahiti, an island within French Polynesia, Gadeaux moved to Ozoir-la-Ferriere, France, a small city just outside of Paris, at a young age where he would start to play rugby at 9 years old with the local youth club. He then moved West to Paimpol, France at 15 years old, playing for two seasons with the local club. Finishing off his youth rugby career, Gadeaux moved once more to Saint-Brieuc for two more seasons.
Gadeaux then made the move to the US and joined the Dallas Harlequins, where he has been playing since 2008. Upon moving to the States, Gadeuax did not know English so he entered an ESL program at the University of Dallas before enrolling at North Lake Community College studying Business and Administration.
Gadeaux has a two year old daughter named Louise and Ben, a rescued English Bulldog.
“This opportunity is unbelievable for me because I have the chance to learn from so many talented players and coaches that will help improve my game,” Gadeaux said. “I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, it is like a dream come true.”
“There are so many talented rugby players in DFW and the fact that I am one of the few who got the chance to join the Jacklas, is a real honor.”
Elaine Vassie, Jackals GM, said, “A genuine competitor who makes an impact on and off the ball, after his 10 years in Texas D1, I’m really excited to see Frenchie be challenged at the next level. His application to his off field work over the past season to put himself in the best position for this opportunity has been really impressive and I’m very much looking forward to working with him again.”
