Premiership Experienced Player Todd Gleave Signs with Dallas
The Dallas Jackals are happy to announce Todd Gleave has signed with Dallas! The Premiership experienced player adds more international skill to the Jackals for their Inaugural Season.
Gleave, 26, grew up in East Grinstead, a town just South of London. While attending Brighton College, he played schoolboy rugby with East Grinstead RFC and later Haywards Heath.
Gleave’s rugby career quickly went to the next level when he joined London Scottish, competing in the RFU Championship, for the 2014 season. After a brief stint with the National League 1 side Rosslyn Park, Gleave was snapped up by London Irish in 2015.
During the 2016 London Irish campaign, Gleave aided the side to winning the RFU Championship and the British and Irish Cup quarter-final. Gleave made his Premiership debut in the 2017/18 season after club promotion.
Ahead of the 2018/19 Premiership season, Gleave signed with Gloucester Rugby where the club went to the Premiership semi-final. Gleave went on to make 20 appearances with Gloucester including two Premiership Cup and two Championship Cup appearances.
Gleave was loaned to the Ospreys, Welsh club in the United Rugby Championship and European Rugby Championship, in April 2021 for the Pro14 Rainbow Cup.
Outside of rugby, Gleave enjoys really good coffee and owns his own coffee events company Stubborn Rhino. He looks forward to experiencing Dallas and all it has to offer.
“Everyone I have spoken to inside and outside of the Jackals has nothing but great things to say,” Gleave said. “It’s a super exciting challenge going on. I’m looking forward to representing the team, embracing American life, and meeting the people of Dallas.”
On the topic of the growth of rugby in the US, Gleave said, “Looking from the outside, the US is full of amazing athletic talent and the growth of rugby is something that could be astronomical. I’m looking forward to sharing past experiences and knowledge around my specific position and the team to guys that are hungry to learn.”
“Elaine has a clear vision of where the club wants to go,” Gleave stated about the Jackals. “Coupled with the chance to see US cities and play in a growing competition that is gaining a lot of social media attraction, it was a very appetizing opportunity.”
Jackals GM said, “Todd’s a quality rugby player with intelligence that shows on and off the ball. Solid in the set piece, but with a real energy in the loose, we definitely connected over how Jackals will approach our playing and coaching environments and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact he’s going to have on arrival!”
