RFC LA Makes Their First Trip to Choctaw Stadium
The Dallas Jackals (4-5-0) return home to Choctaw Stadium to take on RFC Los Angeles (1-6-1) this Friday, May 10, at 7:30 PM.
One of the most anticipated aspects of this game is the rematch of the Week One thriller where the Jackals narrowly won against RFC Los Angeles by just three points.
Dallas is coming off a tough Week 10 match against San Diego Legion, where they fell short after conceding a winning try in the dying moments of the game. Determined to bounce back, the Jackals are focused on playing a cleaner game in Week 11, addressing issues such as penalties and discipline which plagued them in their last outing.
On the field, the Jackals boast an impressive record, having scored the most tries in the Major League Rugby (MLR) season so far, with 43 tries to their name. Additionally, they lead the league in lineout win percentage (89.03%), showcasing their dominance in set-piece play.
Meanwhile, RFC Los Angeles returns to action after a second bye week in Week 10. Despite being on a four-game losing streak, they remain a formidable opponent, with players like Andrew Coe returning to the lineup after serving a three-week suspension. Los Angeles will be banking on their league-high defensive turnovers to stifle the Jackals’ attack.
Key players to watch include Matthew Heaton for RFC Los Angeles, with 23 tackles which led LA defenders in week eight, adding 10 defending breakdown arrivals and 26 attacking breakdown arrivals, will be tasked with leading the defense and shutting down Dallas’s scoring opportunities. On the other side, Makeen Alikhan will be pivotal for the Jackals, with 18 tackles and 8 defending breakdown arrivals and won two defensive turnovers last week will be aiming to bolster their defensive efforts while maintaining their attacking prowess.
With both teams hungry for victory and a chance to climb the standings, Friday’s clash promises to be a thrilling matchup filled with intensity and skill. Adding to the excitement, Dallas will be hosting Hispanic Heritage Night, celebrating the rich cultural diversity within the rugby community. Fans can expect a vibrant atmosphere as the Jackals pay homage to their Hispanic heritage. Loteria Boards will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans to be played during half time.
