Former SaberCat Back Rower Adriaan Booysen Joins the Pack
The Dallas Jackals are pleased to announce Adriaan Booysen has joining the squad. Booysen former played with the Houston SaberCats and competed in the 2019 World Cup.
From a farm in Gobabis, Namibia, Booysen began playing rugby at the age of 6. He was selected for the Namibian U18 side the final two years of high school. Booysen later joined the Welhitchias, a semi-pro side in Namibia, from 2017-2019.
Continuing to build his resume, Booysen was selected for the Senior Namibian National team in 2017 and as competed with the side since. He had the opportunity to represent this home country in the 2019 World Cup in Japan, playing against the All Blacks and South Africa.
Booysen then went stateside to the Houston SaberCats for the 2020 and 2021 MLR seasons.
Outside of rugby, Booysen completed his Law Degree in South Africa in 2018. He has three siblings, a brother and two sisters. He enjoys staying active with gym sessions and cross fit, traveling, and having braai (BBQs) with family and friends.
“I am really excited about joining the Jackals, a team with so much potential to grow and to create their own culture and style of play in the MLR,” Booysen said. “I am excited to join the journey that the Jackals are taking as a new team and to be a part of the new Jackals culture and identity the team is creating.”
