Houston Native Luke Rizzo Joins the Jackals
The Dallas Jackals are happy to announce Hooker Luke Rizzo has signed for the 2022 Inaugural Season!
Rizzo, born and raised in The Woodlands, Texas, grew up pitch side watching his father coach rugby at Sam Houston State University. He began playing football at a young age, but also picked up rugby playing for Woodlands Youth Rugby Club.
Rizzo went on to play two years of D1A football at Texas Tech University before realizing football was not his true passion. He returned to The Woodlands Men’s Rugby Club where he fell back in love with rugby.
Strengthening his rugby career, Rizzo was selected for the USA U23 High Performance Pathway program in Colorado where he trained for 9 weeks.
Rizzo is currently studying towards his Business degree and in his free time enjoys training and lifting weights. He says he hopes to one day become a personal trainer.
Rizzo says, “I’m most excited to meet my new teammates and see how the team chemistry will grow as we go through the season.”
“A mobile young hooker, Rizzo is focused on stretching himself as he comes in to the pack,” GM Elaine Vassie said. “I’m confident his approach to this and his desire to compete will underpin all he’s looking to contribute here.”
Welcome to the Pack Luke!
