The Dallas Jackals Have Acquired, No. 8, Ronan Foley
ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Jackals have acquired Ronan Foley, No. 8, for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. Foley was traded from the Seattle Seawolves for a 2nd round draft pick and salary cap considerations.
The 6’2”, 231 pound Foley is from Dublin, Ireland and has previously played for the Toronto Arrows in 2022 and the Seattle Seawolves in 2023.
First joining the MLR after playing with his hometown club University College Dublin of the All-Ireland League, Foley played for the team’s U20s, but a year later joined the senior side. He was Club Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season in 2017-2018 and was the team’s captain in the All-Ireland League in 2020-2021.
Foley played for Ireland’s U20 in the 2017-2018 U20 Six Nations against Italy, Wales, and Scotland. He also went through the Leinster Academy, played for Leinster A, and earned one cap with Leinster’s senior side in 2019.
Foley scored three tries for the Arrows in 2022 and finished No. 1 in the MLR for the No. 8 position in run meters, meters gained, tackles made, and clean breaks, and was voted 2022 Player of the Year by the Toronto Arrows.
During the 2023 MLR season, Foley played for the Seattle Seawolves. Foley played 11 games, had 8 starts, and scored 2 tries for the Seawolves.
Foley said, “I’ve heard lots of amazing things about Dallas, Texas. I’m very honored to be playing my fourth season with MLR and I’m so excited it’s going to be with the Dallas Jackals.”
